Back to the beach was the order of the day. with beautiful weather and again some great coastal road riding we had a fantastic day. We climbed a massive sand dune and then ran back down my aches and pains will be very evident tomorrow. Beer and food on the patio just off the beach made it a complete day.
Off to ocean we went forecast was iffy but we took the chance and it paid off. We rode some fantastic motorcycle roads with sweeping curves amongst coastal forests. Of course all the tourist towns were busy but we had no problem stopping at the viewpoints. Coming back we stopped at a little café in Alsea which had what? Fresh berry pies OMG!! we ran late but arrived with a fulfilled feeling with so many miles of fantastic riding. Looks like its back to the coast tomorrow with some new rides in the mix.
S we made to the rally in Salem with a few delays thanks to Air Canada but were here. We went on our first ride today through the Willamette Valley which was great we have broken cloud and showers normal costal weather. Over a hundred people in attendance and having a good time.
After a good day off doing laundry and cleaning the bike I made my way down to the campground doing a scenic mountain ride along the way . Ended up having to a bit of non paved mountain road navigating but it was a very scenic and nice ride. After getting to the rally we went into town and enjoyed their museum which was very well received by everyone. Afterwards we rode down to out of the way tavern for lunch and then back to the campground for some great fellowship. Biker stew was the order for supper made by our host Irene who has done a great job with the rally. I said my goodbyes as I have to go to Portland tomorrow to pick up Steph.
Well tried some reverse phycology and went to a rain forest today and nope it didn't work it rained. Broken weather so enjoyed some sun as I rode to Olympia National Park and around the peninsula. I got my seafood fix at the Crabhouse in Port Angeles before going to Whitby Island on my way to my stop for the night. Washington Rally starts tomorrow takin a day off riding 2500km under my belt time for a break and clean up the bike and do some laundry.
Riding to Yakima today the sun was out and I could see MT Rainer as clear as a bell. Rode the Yakima canyon road which was great and could not wait to get to the park. Well that lasted till I found myself in the clouds and near zero visibility and that was the rest of the day. Riding through the park was still nice once you got to the lower elevations.
Oh yeah and it was only 6 degrees glad I brought all my gear! First two days of riding and some new friends and great experiences. Chief Mountain and Logan's Pass never disappoints the weather was not perfect but the scenery was still stunning. A good day of rising put in Spokane.
The next morning it was off to Moses Lake for the UMCI breakfast and another great day of riding with some of the members what a great start to my trip. |
