Most of you know I am doing a bucket list tour to Arkansas and Tennessee. I left Labour Day and rode 2500km from Medicine Hat to Eureka Springs Arkansas in under 36hrs so I should qualify for the Bun Burner 2500 will submit the paperwork when I get home. I sent the first two weeks riding the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests. I covered most of the roads between Eureka Springs and Hot Springs. The roads though not overly busy are steep, curvy, narrow with no shoulders or guardrails. Not a place for cruising but if you like riding scenic and challenging roads you found it. Cut out of hardwood forests, over mountains , and around rock formations riding was great just don’t fool yourself 300km can be long day. The overlooks and turnouts are limited so you have to stop and take advantage of the ones that are available.
Both Eureka Springs and Hot Springs are tourist spots and as I found out Oct is when riding season starts as it’s too hot in the summer, so lots of bikes around . Looking for a cold one on the road this not Montana you won’t see bars in every little town your in the Bible Belt , you will have to go to larger towns even then some county’s are completely dry. Three main buildings in every town, one to five churches, three or four banks and a city hall. This part of Arkansas is fairly affluent but was warned there are parts that are not. For the most part I felt comfortable wherever I went. In conclusion for those who like to wear out all their tire and enjoy some beautiful and interesting country this might be the place to visit, they only ask you not to tell to many people.
